With Superior (which emulates all these mics and gives you control over bleed) you can often get a more authentic sound. For example you have a mic inside the kick drum, a mic on the outside of the kick drum, a snare mic under, snare on top, ambient mics and overhead mics. If you are trying to get rock track, especially classical 70's those can only get you so far before you discover elements are just "not how you want them to sound."įrom my standpoint the most real acoustical drum recordings are done in the traditional recording studio method.
